Climate

The sun shines on Grand Bahama Island an average of 300 days a year. Average annual rainfall is 57 inches. Our location just off Florida's gulf coast ensures warm waters throughout the winter months and an offshore, southeasternly breeze to moderate our summer temperature to a comfortable average of 83°F or 28°C. Winter temperatures average 70°F or 21°C.

Currency

The Bahamian dollar is pegged directly to the U.S. dollar at 1:1, and may be used interchangeably throughout The Bahamas for the purchase of goods and services.

Cost of Living

As Grand Bahama Island imports 90 percent of all consumer goods directly from the United States, The cost of living reflects the cost of transportation in the locally derived Consumer Price Index.

Population
