Mr. Carey Leonard, born in London, England, serves as Deputy General Counsel for the Grand Bahama Port Authority, a position he had held since August 1998.

Prior to joining the GBPA, Mr. Leonard was senior partner in the law firm of Sheffields, Counsel & Attorneys-At-Law, a practice he founded in Apri11995. He was called to The Bahamas Bar in 1977 and between that time and 1995, he served as Associate and then Junior Partner with Seligman Maynard & Co.; Partner with Toothe Paton & Co.; Partner with Toothe Unwala Leonard; and Co-founder and Partner with Unwala Leonard & Co.

Mr. Leonard is a Past President and Director of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce, Director of the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce and his other civic activities include service on the Government Airport Advisory Committee and the Bahamas Duty Free Promotion Board, and membership in the Bahamas Air Sea Rescue Association and the Bahamas Humane Society. He has also served as Legal Advisor for the Society. Between 1983 and 1994 he served as a Lecturer and Examiner in Conveyancing for the Bahamas Bar Association.
